A lovely Sunday brunch at Sundby Gård to celebrate my mother-in-law. It was really nice except for the pooring rain. The restaurant has a fantastic view over the lake Orlången and we were hoping for a nice walk after lunch but the weather didn’t allow us.
Now an afternoon in my corner enjoying the Olympics on tv. Two days – two silver medals so far!
Rye bread
Yesterday was an emotional day for me for some reason. I was tired and felt like our family need some positive news and something to look forward to. We all struggle a bit, each for our own reason.
When I was little my mom and grandma used to bake a bread made from sifted rye flour. All round with a hole in the middle. I have my grandmas old recipe book so I found the recipe and the bread turned out great. I had a taste last night when the bread was still warm and soft. With tea and orange marmalade. It brought back memories and it was great to start today with a breakfast with home made rye bread.
Juldagen
Julafton
Christmas eve – we have celebrated this day in our house every year (except one) since we bought it back in 1997. We all contribute to the dinner table and enjoy a nice meal. But first we watch the yearly Disney hour together and have a glass of glögg which is a molded wine served hot. Then after dinner we open the presents – this year limited to the kids only – and finally we have coffee and a fruit sallad.
Thank you all for making this such a special day filled with tradition created by us together. Let’s hope we can enjoy many more Christmases like this – but hopefully with snow instead of rain. Next year my sister w/ fam will join us too – they do every other year!
Be safe everyone and God Jul!
Christmas fair
Every year my whole life we have had a fair in our church where we raise money to donate to charity. My mother is part of a craft club since 45 years and these amazing ladies organize this by themselves every year. A couple of years ago they passed 1.000.000 SEK in money they have raised so far over the years.
The fair starts at 11.00 and after a short mass we start by having lunch together – rise porridge with cinnamon and caster sugar and some milk.
Then there are lotteries and tombola’s and all sorts of activities. Unfortunately they didn’t manage to book a Lucia parade and this means that not as many people will attend the fair. But, hopefully they managed to raise some money anyway. My friend Baltyky came to visit our church. It was really nice to see him and I think he really enjoyed to see and participate in our day.
In the end of the day my mother and our kids picked all the winners from the lotteries. It’s been a long day but a real feel-good-one.
Party-time
Klockargården
Amazing.. my kids are so grown up. I just came home from Klockargården by the church in Huddinge where they held a first information meeting regarding my youngest son’s confirmation next summer.
The priest who performed my confirmation also married me and my husband. I wonder who will perform my sons confirmation. And if he ever will meet him or her again later in life.
