Cleaning day

A Sunday with no plans other than cleaning the house. Since our oldest left yesterday I thought I’d start with his room. Now it is more or less dust-free – yeah!

I’ve been watching the love-manifest on Sergels Torg today to honor and pay respect to the victims from the attack Friday. The square and surroundings were packed with people, a few artists performed and some politicians held speeches. Quite well organized and it was amazing how many people showed up. I have to pass there tomorrow morning – I hope to get a glimpse of some of the flowers people have put there.

Last night we went to a restaurant for dinner and we had a “plank-stek” – a steak with mashed potatoes, sauce bearnaise and red-wine sauce along with vegetables. Yum. Tonight I will make a pork filet with oven baked potatoes. My oldest niece is here for the night – tomorrow the two youngsters are taking a flight down to join the others in our paradise.

Day after

A new day. Stockholm waking up after the horrible attack yesterday where, so far, 4 people lost their lives and 10-15 people are seriously injured. They have arrested a person they believe is guilty of this monstrous attack. Apparantly he had a bomb in the truck too that didn’t go off. So, thank God for small mercies.

M is on his way to our paradise now w/ my sis and her family – and F and K will follow on Monday. Feels good to have them safely down there. I am not yet sure how I will feel going to work on Monday. But, I’m sure it will be fine.

Day of sorrow

I’m home now. Grateful to not have left work a bit early today. Grateful to be spared most of the awfulness that happened very close to my work today. A man stole a truck and drove it 500 m on the busiest shopping street in town. Killed and injured people. Chaos in the city. The police closed down the city center (buses, subways, commuter trains etc) and encouraged people to remain indoors for several hours. My husband managed to walk over to my job and after have waited 2-3 hrs we dared to start the long walk back home. Together with my oldest niece and her dad. Thousands and thousands of people  trying to get home – in a long general exodus.  Let’s say a prayer they will catch this terrorist. And that this was the end of it – and not just the beginning of something more. Be safe out there everyone!

Tulip art

My youngest had parent-teacher conference this morning in school – the last one (probably) for me to participate in since he will be 18 next year and then we parents are no longer invited unless he is in trouble. Maybe there will be another conference during the fall – but otherwise this was the last one.

Going to work I took the subway from Högdalen where the station was decorated with these lovely tulips. I like this kind of art. Makes me smile.

My parents arrived safely down in our paradise today. One more week and then we can all enjoy some time there together.

Sunny day ?

Already Wednesday. And the construction workers arrived early. They started their machines before 6 AM this morning. It was time for me to get up and head into town anyway.

Met my BFF for a late lunch today. Perfect! Just what we needed. Always so good to see her for a bit.

When I got back home they had removed all the asfalt from our street and started with the next step. I hope they get done a bit quicker than they thought. It is very tiring to live in this mess.

Chaos

Today they picked up the work again they started around Xmas. They just left the mess 3 months ago and now finally they have begun to finish the work. Step one – take away all the asfalt on the street. Then over the next month or so they will build a pavement and re-do the road. Not sure if they will move the lamp poles too. Maybe. Can’t wait for the final result. And to get rid of all the dirt outside. My house has been a mess all winter with all the dirt we are dragging with us indoor.

Going to cheer on our ladies tonight facing Finland in the quarter finals in WC hockey. Go girls!

Everyone back

Finally the family is back together again!

The sun is shining, the flowers are starting to bloom, it is getting lighter and lighter and soon soon we will all be in our paradise together to celebrate Easter. Can’t wait. Just what I need – what we all need.

I have a bit too much on my plate right now – but I love the challenge and I will make all the ends meet. One step at a time – and I will get there soon.

Tulips with love

A lovely Sunday – nice and sunny. My boys managed to get my internet working again – yeah – so I could finally get started with my photos and other things that have been neglected for a while.

These are the amazing tulips my parents gave me yesterday – you can really tell they are good quality flowers. Beautiful!

My husband is on his way back home again from his ski-trip. I am so glad he is traveling by train. There was a terrible accident this morning with a bus full of teenagers and a few adults that crashed on its way up to the mountains in Sweden. A lot of kids were injured and some even died. My thoughts go to them and their families. Going to light a candle tonight.

New menu

An early start today – couldn’t sleep so I got up and enjoyed some quiet me-time in my corner this morning watching a few recorded series from last week. After that I took care of our Saturday-chores – grocery shopping, cleaning, washing, vacuuming.. picked up some lunch on the way back – new dish on the McD menu and it was quite good, actually. Not a favorite, but ok.

A nice afternoon with my parents – they stopped by for a coffee and gave me a lovely bouquet of yellow tulips! I love tulips! Makes me smile!

AW

A good last day of a not great week. Still pretty cold and a bit grey and rainy/snowy, but who cares – it’s Friday! I texted my oldest niece and asked her out for a coffee after work and she had time for her aunt! Great to see her for a bit – just the two of us!

Then it was time for her to go home and time for me to see my old colleagues at an AW in the hotel bar of Malmen. One driving spirit arranges these twice per year and they are always very well attended with a couple of hundred people there. A glass of wine among old friends and then it was time to head back home again. I joined a friend as she was going home so we didn’t have to travel late by ourselves – great company and a bit safer too.

Now it’s time to cheer on our ladies playing their first game in the hockey world cup. Facing Germany tonight.
