California awaits

The day has come.. got up early to spend some time with the family before it is time to head off to the airport. Got a message about a delay in the departure – by 3hrs.. *sigh* . Nothing else to do than to contact the taxi company and postpone it a couple of hours. Also double checked with the car rental that they have our flight number and therefor will know about the delay. Let my American family know that we will be arriving a lot later than we thought. So much to do.

3 more hours at home = a lot of time on my hands. Doing my second machine of laundry right now… lol. Fingers crossed nothing else will get in our way and that from now on everything will run smoothly and without obstacles.

Fettisdag

National theme day – semlor! A bun flavored with cardamon – lid cut off – filled with almond icing, whipped cream – lid back on an decorated with icing sugar. mmm. I had ordered the small ones – plenty enough calories to go around anyway!

Last day at work for a while – our much-longed vacation is finally here. Time to get organized and pack the last bits. Let’s hope we’ll make it there without too much hassle and that the trip goes well. I will try to make a daily note here but I will not have my computer so I will not be able to do the layout.

Be safe, everyone!

Winter break

First day of winter break for my youngest. A whole week off relaxing with no musts or homework. I hope he’ll have a great week even though it might be a bit lonely since a lot of his friends are away and his brother has school all week.

Fingers crossed his birthday present will be delivered tonight  so he finally can receive it. Didn’t feel too good to not be able to give it to him on time.

Kaknäs

Time to enjoy my mother’s birthday-present we gave her in November. A brunch with all 10 of us in Kaknästornet – a restaurant place 155 m above ground level on the 28th floor. It was a “smörgåsbord”-lunch and the food was really good!

After lunch we went up another couple of floors to look at the magnificent view from the observation deck. No blue sky today but still quite a good view of our beautiful capitol.

Now I am so full I will not move for the rest of the day.. lol. Trying to pack my suitcase and figure out what to bring. Always tricky when leaving a country with snow to travel to a country with more spring-like weather.

17

A gorgeous Saturday and my “baby” is turning 17 years old. 17. Almost an adult. One more year and then he will be. An adult. Responsible for his own actions. Wow. But, I have a whole year left until then. After that I will have two beautiful adult sons in my life.

We had a great afternoon together with the whole family. F and I made a blue princess cake – it was a disaster but it tasted really nice. Lol. Unfortunately his present didn’t arrive on time, but he received a lot of nice gifts from the rest of the family!

Thank you for making his day so special!

Fredagsmys

A sunny day for a change but freezing cold with -7C this morning. Brrr. I want spring to arrive now. But, I guess it can wait a bit more since it’s winter break in Stockholm next week.

A weekend filled with fun things ahead. Then two more days of work before it’s time for our trip to (hopefully) sunny California. They have had huge problems with rain and flooding over there but fingers crossed March will have a lovely couple of weeks installed for us.

Semmelwrap

A special birthday at work today demanded a special treat – so we decided to try the famous “semmelwraps” from Tössebageriet. They looked fantastic but I must say I prefer the regular “semlor”. The bread cover was a bit dry, way too much whipped cream for my taste but the almond icing was delicious. Oh well, now I’ve tried one and it was ok. But not great.

It felt like the entire world was covered in ice when I went home tonight. So slippery! And cold! Had to be really careful not to fall. Break a leg right now will not be a good idea with our upcoming trip next week.

More snow ❄

Another snowy day in the city. It was quite beautiful out in the suburbs where we live, but in the city it was a disaster more or less. Very slushy and wet. But very big snow flakes falling all day long. Since it is above 0C they melted away as soon as they landed on the ground.

A busy afternoon later I could put my feet up. One load of laundry almost done, lasagna in the oven, freshly baked bread in the bread machine getting ready in time for dinner.
