Visitors

Two really warm days in a row. 19.6C in the water this morning. After breakfast we drove into Borgholm for some grocery shopping and refilling of our gastank for the bbq.

In the late afternoon my hubby’s cousin w/ wife came for a visit in their motorhome. We had a lovely afternoon and could sit outside for a bbq dinner. They treated us strawberries and ice cream for dessert. After dinner we took a nice stroll around the block as the sun set and when we got back we could sit outside for a few hours chatting and enjoying a glas of wine. Now it is time to hug the pillow.

Borgholm

Another nice sunny day to enjoy. We’ve been in the ocean several times to cool off. Around 19-20C in the water so that is quite nice.

This afternoon my hubby and all the girls went into Borgholm for some strolling around looking in the stores. Turned out to be a poor decision – a lot of stores were closed due to the sale starting tomorrow. Oh well. I found nice blue top which I bought.

When my brother-in-law had finished working he took my dad and son with him and we all met up for dinner at one of our favorite restaurants – Sören. I had a salmon “planka” which was very nice.

Sara

Today the warm weather came back and we’ve been seeking the coolest spot in the garden all day.

Me and Sara baked a Sara-cake after lunch and then we all had a nice “fika” outside on our north-side of the house where we found some shade. A Sara-cake is a chocolate sponge cake served with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. It turned out great!

It’s been a sunny lovely day with a number of dips in the ocean. A lot of people enjoying our beach today – glad we can stay in our garden and still enjoy the ocean.

Girls in town

New week and time for some girl-time in town. After breakfast all four of us drove down to Kalmar for some shopping. First we took a tour around town and found some clothes we liked, then my mother treated us a nice lunch before it was time to move the car.

Next stop Hansa City to look at a new stove. We found a couple of options we will consider and probably buy online with home delivery. We also tried some chairs at IKEA – we didn’t find any we all liked so the search will continue. We arrived back home in time for dinner which was prepared by the guys and ready to sit down and eat. Lovely.

Now we’ve crashed in front of the TV for the last episodes of “Reacher”. No soccer or track&field today.

Sunday

Almost 19C in the ocean this morning – perfect! After breakfast me and my sis went to get groceries while the laundry machine was working. When we got back me and my hubby took a nice 3k walk – so far I have managed to take a walk every day since we got here with one exception.

This afternoon these four have been troopers and worked in the garden for a couple of hours before our team played soccer on TV. Won 3-0. Yeah! Fingers crossed our women will win tonight in the final game in the group play. They need a win or even score to go thru.

Sunday treat – bbq nice sirloin steaks served with potato gratin, bbq veggies and a nice glas of red to end our first week here.

Long walk

After the morning dip and breakfast we decided to take a nice long walk around the area in the sunny weather. Said and done.

A quiet relaxed Saturday with everyone doing bits and pieces working on different projects.

Finished off the rest of the left-overs for dinner. Now some corner time watching the track-and-field from Eugen, Oregon. A couple of more Swedes are trying to qualify for the finale in their discipline. Oh – and Grete did take the last place in the finale on Sunday. Yeah!

Sunset

Friday already – this week has just disappeared. Started this day like all others so far with a dip in the ocean before breakfast. It is just me and my parents – and a whole bunch of other people with the same routine as we have.

Went for a walk with my mother after lunch and tonight it was my turn to fix dinner. I made chicken leg filet served with oven baked potatoes. Veggies to go with and a whisky-flavored bbq sauce.

Tonight we have cheered on Grete – the hammer-thrower from Hammarby who competes in the World Championships. She set a nice personal record in the try outs. Fingers crossed it will take her to the finale.

Another amazing sunset to end a lovely day in our paradise.

Victoria

A sort of national day for Öland – when our crown princess has her birthday July 14th. Special celebrations ever since she was born and a scholarship/award is handed out to an athlete who has done something extra during the past year. This year the award went to Ebba Årsjö – an amazing paralympier in slalom.

This afternoon we went over to my aunt and uncle and sat outside for a nice coffee and sponge cake. Lovely!

Tonight I made a fish casserole for dinner – with parsnip, apple, salmon, herbs and a wine sauce. It turned out pretty good.

Swe vs. Sui

A lovely day in paradise. 18.3C in the ocean this morning – much better than yesterday!

I’ve spent some time the my hammock reading my book “The Dressmaker from Paris”. Took a nice 2.5k walk after lunch together with my son and parents.

My mother made dinner tonight – wienerschnitzel with boiled potatoes, red one sauce and green peas. Yum!

Important game tonight which we managed to win – Sweden vs. Switzerland in the European Championships. 2-1. Yeah! If the other two teams in our group would play a tie tonight it would be in our favor. Our last game in the group play is on Sunday – towards Portugal.

Extra long

Today we took an extra long walk after breakfast while the laundry machine was working. 6k which took us 1 hrs 15 min give or take.

17.3 C in the ocean this morning got up to around 19C in the afternoon. Lovely. Been in twice today.

Me and my sis went to get some garden earth for the flower boxes that my brother-in-law has built. One will have a “ölandstok” – a bush cinquefoil with yellow flowers. We might plant roses in the other two. We’ll see.

Made a lasagna for dinner and we could sit outside again. It turned out pretty good. Tonight we will have “tisdagsmys” while watching “Allsång på Skansen” – a tradition that goes way back here in our paradise.
