Celebration

What a great day. Started out like most of our Saturdays do – grocery shopping and a visit to the waste disposal site.

After lunch we were invited to an outdoor celebration of our two students whom we didn’t get to celebrate in June since we didn’t  want to gather so many people at once. And it was so nice to see everyone again! We sat outside and chatted, enjoyed some bubbly and nibbles and then coffee and cake. Yum.

Now we have bbq sirloin steak for dinner served with lots of veggies and oven baked potatoes. Raspberries for afters.

Friday already

Friday already. This week went by quite quick. Can’t believe we’ve been home a whole week tomorrow already.

After I finished my job me and my oldest decided to go for a long walk in the forrest. The sun were shining when we left the house but we received both some rain (not too bad) and even heard thunder so we were sure we would get soaked. But, after a short while the rain stopped and the sun came back out again. Strange. The forrest was filled with all sorts of mushrooms. I am not an expert so I don’t really know which ones are eatable and which ones that are not. I think this is a boletus of some sort (sopp). But, I’ll leave it to the experts to decide.

Anniversary

A busy Thursday with a lot of planning and things to consider. The day went by pretty quick and now we have had a nice dinner together. Pork filet with pasta and broccoli. Turned out pretty good!

Now some corner time – need to find something new to watch on tv. We just finished watching the Danish series “White Sand” and it was pretty good. We recommend it!

Happy anniversary, dear sis and brother-in-law. 21 years ago you were married. Time flies! I hope you celebrate your special day – maybe some bubbly will be in order! Saw the roses! So pretty!

Dentist

Midweek and more rain. Easier to be back working again with less good weather, I guess. But, I would like some sunshine and walking-friendly weather though. Not many steps so far this week.

This afternoon I had a dentist appointment. A small splinter fell out of one of my teeth a few weeks ago and left a rather sharp edge. So, my dentist fixed that for me today. It was quickly done and didn’t hurt so that was good. Quite costly though. Almost the same hour rate as my lawyers at work charge.

Healthy

Loved my salad-lunch yesterday so much I decided to have salad again today. No shrimps today – went for cottage cheese instead. Yum.

It’s been raining off and on all day so no walk today either. I’ve been really  busy working a full day too so I haven’t had time.

Made pork chops with boiled potatoes for dinner and it turned out pretty good. And a cantaloupe melon for afters. Mmm.

Now I’m going to enjoy the very last “Allsången” and “Midsomer Murders” for this summer. And I’m keeping up our “bubbly” tradition and opened a small bottle. On a Tuesday. Because I’m worth it.

Work

Back to work again. After four great weeks of vacation. I’m as ready as I can be, I guess.

A busy first day – but a short one since it is Monday. Made myself a shrimp-salad for lunch – yum!

Me and my oldest were going to go for a long walk this afternoon to pick up a couple of packages that had arrived but it was raining so we ended up taking the car instead. It’s been raining more or less all day – makes it easier to go back to work.

Fika

Woke up really early today. So much on my mind. Couldn’t go back to sleep so I got up instead and had a quiet breakfast by myself, which was nice too. Missed the morning dip in the ocean but I’m so grateful for all the ones we were able to enjoy this summer.

Me and my hubby went grocery shopping and ran some errands before lunch. Then after lunch we went over to my parents to help my dad with some things and also have a “fika” with a yummy cake and a long chat. So nice to see them again and catch up a bit.

Picked some black currants in our garden. They where really big this year. I will pick some more another day.

Back again

A busy morning packing the last bits and pieces. A lot more things to do than you can imagine and a long list of chores to be ticked off. After we had said goodbye to our uncle we started the long drive back to the real world again. A great summer in many ways and I am very grateful to be blessed with our paradise and chances to spend time there together with my family and occasional guests.

It was so nice to come back home though and hug my youngest for the first time in a month. I have missed him so much. He looked great and had taken care of himself and the house with no remarks. We also stopped by my parents with some things from our paradise and it was really nice to see them again too. Maybe we’ll have time for a coffee tomorrow or some day soon.

Clearing away

A day of packing and clearing away all the outdoor stuff that needs to be stored away for the season. An almost two-day job – cleaning, doing the last laundry, putting away furniture, the outdoor shower, the rainwater barrels etc. But, now we’ve almost done and will reward us with a takeaway pizza for dinner.

Our pumpkins are growing – one big one (compared to the other) and a couple of really tiny ones. Hopefully we will be able to come back here for a long weekend (or maybe even a week) later this fall but we’ll see.

It was 20.1C in the water this morning. A crazy summer in that regards. Have never experience that before, I don’t think.

Harvest

What a great day. Warm and sunny.

We have started to prepare for our departure – a lot of things need to be taken care of before we can leave. Putting back all the outdoor furniture for instance. Tomorrow we will deal with the bbq…

This afternoon we could harvest all the potatoes my parents have grown. Not as much as we would have hoped for but still plenty to enjoy for a couple of dinners.

A special day for me.. my oldest went swimming with me and my sis this afternoon. For the first time since I don’t know when. Made me very happy and I think he enjoyed it too. He stayed in with us for quite a while. The water temperature was 21.8C – lovely.
