Last couple of days of work before the holidays begin. After work I have been busy with all sorts of things – doing laundry, vacuuming etc.

I have also fry dipped the Xmas ham with egg and breadcrumbs. Then we could enjoy the best sandwich of the year – the one with warm ham on it! Yum!

Tonight we have a great dinner to look forward to – Xmas ham with mashed potatoes. Old tradition. Can’t believe it’s Xmas already. No snow yet – just grey rainy weather. Good thing we have a bag of “Twist” to enjoy!

Last Sunday before Xmas and time to light the fourth candle. I love my red pig holding the candles – used to belong to my parents but they let me take it with me when I moved out. I don’t really know who bought it or when – maybe mom can fill me in? 

This afternoon me and my oldest went for an hour long walk in the forrest. We used to do this every Friday – but these last couple of months we have not been as frequent due to various reasons. It was a nice walk – around 8C and no rain. Quite wet in the track though. 

Tonight we have enjoyed dinner and afterwards some time in the spa. Now some corner time with a piece of camembert and a cracker while watching some tv. 

Last weekend before Xmas. We went grocery shopping this morning to get the last bits and pieces for Xmas. If we need anything else we will probably just buy it across the street. It wasn’t too bad with crowds in the store this morning so that was good.

I changed the cloths in the kitchen today so now it is very Xmas:y in there. Decided to not change curtains since we put up the new advent stars in the windows. Christmas is getting closer – tomorrow we light the last candle of Advent. Three more days to work – then we are off for 2,5 weeks. Lovely.

Today we received four plates of Xmas food as a greeting from my husbands company. So nice! We had lunch together and enjoyed a traditional Swedish “smörgåsbord”. Lovely!

Right before dinner another delivery arrived with a gift from my work. A bag filled with culinary delicacies, a bottle of bubbly and a book written by Celeste Ng called “Little Fires Everywhere” (Små eldar överallt). Should be interesting to read. And so many goodies to enjoy!

The days go by so very quickly. Already Wednesday. Short day and after work I went to pick up a couple of things we had ordered online. Not too crowded when you go in the early afternoon – after lunch and before people get off work.

Bough some “mazariner” for an afternoon treat. Perfect with a cup of tea and an episode of “Velvet” before I start dinner. I think I’ll make pork filet served with rise and tomato/basil creme fraiche tonight.

A long day at work – filled with quite a lot to do. We picked up burgers for lunch – I know, lazy bees. So salad for me tonight. Needed to compensate on the amount of calories spent during lunch. I made air fried cauliflower to go with the salad. Yum.

It is so dark outside now – almost all day. One more week before it turns around and the days are getting longer again.

Yesterday, me and my hubby started to watch a new series on HBO with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant. Quite good! It’s called “The Undoing” and season one has 6 episodes, I think. .

Today The Public Health Agency of Sweden has sent out a text message to basically every citizen encouraging us to follow their stricter guidelines. I hope it will help. The hospitals are struggling with overworked staff and not having enough intensive care units. We need to turn this pandemic around now and all help the best we can by following the guidelines and staying away from being exposed. 

A busy short day today. After work I have been a busy bee doing chores around the house. Laundry, cleaning, sorting things. Going to make salmon for dinner. Maybe a wok for the boys. 

Advent 3rd and also the day of Lucia this year. Found this gem among old photos – when my little angels dressed up for the yearly photo for the Xmas cards. Those were the days. One little star-boy and one gingerbread man. Now they are both taller than their mother and have darker hair and beard. Lol.

Sent the yearly Christmas package to my American mom and dad today. I hope it will arrive in time for Xmas. The cards can wait a bit longer.

Today it is grey and rainy outside and still above 0 C so no snow in sight. A strange year in many ways. Even the weather is different.

 

We have a tradition in our family. Every Christmas-tree needs to have an angel watching over it. I have several. This one, along with her four sisters, we made in our Pyssel-klubben a few years back. I love them in their simplicity. I also have one crystal angel my mother gave me and also one made of hay.

Today we have been grocery shopping. Not too bad with the crowds today so that was good. This afternoon we have watched a couple of episodes of “Hinterland” – a criminology taking place in Wales. Quite good.

Now we have finished our dinner consisting of spareribs with fries among other things. Sofa time and “Så mycket bättre” awaits tonight.
