For a castle of the month of May we chose Salnecke Castle, situated outside of Enköping.
The property belonged to the king during the 16th century and the current building was completed in 1646. The castle is one of the best preserved castles from the 17th century. It has had several owners over the years and now belongs to the Norman family, who are working on restoring the castle. It’s been a notable building since 1967.
Next to the castle is a small café and restaurant where we had a very nice lunch. I chose their fish casserole and my husband tried their schnitzel, both dishes really nice!
